    Hi COL,
Do you have any more details on this at all? Was this a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time as I would like to include this information into my own database.

    Thanks
    Dean

    Hello Dean,

l think it was a case of 'Wrong place, Wrong time'. You will find more details here:

    http://static.awm.gov.au/images/coll...25_006--1-.pdf

    See: p.289 of 320.

    and...

    http://static.awm.gov.au/images/coll...25_003--1-.pdf

    See: p.61 of 164

l believe that the airmen mentioned were on leave (in Ferguson's case, sick leave), and were most likely paying a visit to, either, Australia House in the Aldwych, or RAAF Overseas HQ, which was just around the corner in Kingsway.

3913 F/Sgt Oswald Edward FERGUSON BEM, MiD, RAAF, the other fatality, was a member of No.10 Sqn RAAF.

For a bit more on Ferguson, See: Air Power over Europe 1944-1945/Herington pp.151-2, and Maritime is Number Ten/Baff pp.357-8.

Couple of shots of Smith RAAF, here:

Sgt Kenneth Olive was killed at 115 Otley Drive, Ilford, by a flying bomb. His two-year old daughter, Prunella Pamela, and his parents-in-law, Gordon and Mabel Bonham, were also killed.
