Default Mystery Beaufighter crash near Chesterfield

I have had a request from a friend who is researching Beaufighters about a Beau of No 29 Sqn which suffered engine failure six miles south of Chesterfield. The crew baled out successfully. The ORB fails to mention the serial number, nor is the incident listed in Air-Britain Aeromilitaria's ongoing list of UK crash sites. Can anyone identify it, please?

Many thanks for that information. Strange that it is described in the ORB as happening on 12.3.41. Even more strange that the only similar incident (on 28/11/40) was at Potterhanworth, LIncs, a fair way from Chesterfield. It is possible that the crew baled out in Lincs and the Beau flew on for a while before crashing. Doesn't explain the date discrepancy, of course.

    Paul,

John Foreman in 'Battle of Britain The Forgotten Months" (p.146), names the pilot of No.29 Sqn Beaufighter R2140, as P/O PARKER. Braham, in his autobiography, "Scramble", mentions a "Don" Parker (an ex-bomber boy, now a night-fighter), on 29 Sqn at this time
