Default Anyone live in or near Liverpool

I hope the mods will permit this post, but will understand if it is deleted.

A short while ago I gave a presentation to the Royal Met Society in Birmingham about two wartime weather ships, the SS Arakaka and SS Toronto City. Both were torpedoed with the loss of all hands during the summer of 1941. Amongst the 84 fatalities were six RAFVR meteorologists:

    Sqn Ldr S L Portass (70891), Cpl R Wrighton (753664), LAC P W H Short (753651) on the Arakaka
    Flt Lt S Proud (85435), Cpl Hedley-Smith (753648), LAC F V Thom (753654) on the Toronto City

Their story is at http://www.rmets.org/sites/rmets.org...2014-booth.pdf .

Since the presentation I've learnt that the Liverpool Maritime Museum has a half-model of the Arakaka, meaning one can see the interior, and I would very much like a photograph - which the museum is unable to provide in the forseeable future. Unfortunately, I'm currently unable to make the journey from the deep south and I'm wondering if anyone living in the vicinity would be able to help me via PM or email?

    Brian,
May I suggest you contact the museum direct. The online enquiry form is at
    http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/a...x?EnquiryID=51

I'm sure they would assist with your request, with suitable grovelling.

    Good luck

Thanks, Paul, but I already have (see my last but one sentence.)

    Brian

PS. If all else fails I guess my better half wouldn't mind me spending an hour of a weekend in the museum - provided she can spend the rest of the time in Chester.

Brian, I may be able to help as I have friends in Liverpool. I'll ask them and see what reply I get :)

Many thanks Greg. I think I should have called it the Merseyside Maritime Museum, but I guess they'd suss that out.

    Cheers
