    Malcolm,

Before 1941 the reporting of deaths occurring in the Shoreham parish was to Sevenoaks, after 1941 in Tonbridge.

    Hi Dave

The confusion came about due to there being two Kingsdowns in Kent, one on the coast near Deal, which I assumed to be the crash area and West Kingsdown near Brands Hatch, which would appear to be the actual crash area

The ORB of 226 MU, based in Northern Ireland accounts for:

    18th July 1944: Sudden death of 1698066 AC.1 Russell, G A, from sub-arrachnoid haemorage.

It doesn't elaborate on him being in Northern Ireland or Scotland.

Presumably he was serving with 226 MU but died in Grangemouth, possibly on leave, as his death is registered there.
