    SMITH, George Arthur - LAC - killed whilst flying in Dakota III, FZ597 of No 353 Sqn, which broke up in the air after entering a cu-nim cloud near Mohavia during a mail flight from Calcutta to Delhi.

    BULMAN, Harry - LAC - registered in Deben.
    CARTMELL, Frank - Cpl - registered in the Fylde.
    FUKES, Robert Stanley - Cpl - registered in Cardigan.
    WOOD, Alan Frederick William - F/S (Pilot) - killed whilst flying in Master II, W9027 of No 5 (P) AFU, which stalled and crashed near the pilots home in Birmingham.

    ZIMBABWE
    CLEMENTS, Raymond Thomas - F/O (Pilot Instr) - probably killed whilst flying in Oxford II, X7307 of No 23 SFTS, which crashed near Heany in Southern Rhodesia.

    LAC George Arthur SMITH, was not killed aboard No.353 Sqn Dakota III FZ597. He died on Active Service. See: The Times. Monday, December 18, 1944. p.6.

    The dead were originally buried at the scene of the crash in a common grave, 50 miles east of Benares (26.15N:83.44E). The military personnel were later reinterred in Ranchi War Cemetery.

    I incorrectly assumed that he was the '+ one other' listed in Though without Anger which was obviously Drucquer.

    BULMAN, Harry - LAC - 1093742 - the Liverpool Evening Express of August 14th 1944 reported that he lost his life while bathing near his R.A.F. station.

    FUKES, Robert Stanley - Cpl - 1475101 - a family tree on acnestry.co.uk records that he died at Cardiganshire General Hospital. There is a reference to an inquest, but no further information.
