Default FW211 VO-Y Mitchell II 98 Sqdn crash Hees Nijmegen 25Sept1944

    Morning all!
This investigation is threatening to turn into something tangible pretty quickly:
something of benefit to a number of parties. Now I'm looking for very specific
    things:

    1) Evidence/proof of exact crash site. Particularly interested in photos, original
documents, eyewitness accounts, and film footage.
    2) Any hint at all of possible living relatives of the other three members of that
    crew, i.e.

AUS/410714 Pilot Officer Harold Morris Nottle (Wireless Operator / Air Gunner) KIA
182005 Pilot Officer Stanley Harrison (Pilot) KIA
1321710 Flight Sergeant Ronald George Taylor (Wireless Operator / Air Gunner) POW

    where
131107 Flying Officer George Robert Munton (Navigator Bomber) KIA
    was my great uncle.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

You can pay a small fee and have the Service File of P/O Nottle RAAF digitised and presented for view at the NAA. Take a couple of weeks but it is worth the wait for the gene data you can glean on NoK, birth date, lived in etc

    http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/Searc...sicSearch.aspx

put 410714 Nottle into the search box and click search.

Once details displayed look to the middle right hand side for the "Request Copy" text link.

Click this for details on how to have this item digitised.

For F/Sgt Taylor have a look on this forum on how to locate a copy of his Liberation Questionaire. If he did one then it may contain details that will help a gene search.

For Harrison a copy of his death certificate from the GRO will start you on the way for a gene search on relatives.

    Regards
    Ross

Once again Ross, you are indeed the man!

    Here's a blog I made yesterday…

    http://hewasahero.wordpress.com/

Since posting last, I've rejoined a certain heavily-advertised family history site, and using information from the Liberation Questionnaire as well as elsewhere, have made promising first contact with relatives of two of the three other crew!

    Thanks again.
Happy to visit Kew for you, or buy you a pint!

In a coup for the ceremony's organiser, three veterans from 320 Squadron are due to attend.
Here's the 320 Squadron Veterans' Association website:

    This is all snowballing now…!
