Stunning as you say!!
This may be old news, but I have just found this web site showing the work of Polish artist Peter Forkasiewicz.
He appears to have created a number of images of Lancasters on very specific commission. They are highly detailed and quite impressive.
Click on the Projects link to see them.
There are more on his personal blog. Some examples: E is for Easy; Horrido.
He seems to specialise in naval images also.
To easily view all the images I found, click here.
Enjoy.

I have since found that the image entitled Last Sunset was made for the 49th Squadron Association of Bomber Command, and represents the final sunset seen by the crew of Lancaster EA-D which was shot down that incoming night (August 23/24 1943), near Offenbach.
The three images of the plane under attack at night were commissioned by a former Bomber Command airman to illustrate the last moments of his aircraft. In The Last Defender the mid-upper gunner is still firing while other crew have bailed out. The gunner bailed out too close to the ground, and did not survive.

Some of the images are for my next book, on the Dambuster Lancaster. We have been working from about 120 original Avro plans and so these modified variants will be shown accurately for the very first time.
