Hello
ARTHUR, Peter Frederick.Fendick - W/O(Pilot) - 1271614 - his G.R.R. Form on the CWGC entry lists his unit as 51 O.T.U.
I'm wondering if this could possibly be the Frederick P. Arthur, aged 23, registered Ampthill? That would tie in with:
HEWITT, Kenneth Francis - Sgt(Nav) - 1324954 - also 51 O.T.U., also registered Ampthill.

Simon
hi
was wondering if anyone had located some more info on
HEWITT, Kenneth Francis - Sgt(Nav) - 1324954 - RAFVR - Staines (London Road) Cemetery, Middlesex.
he was my grandfather,
i got a call a few years ago from his brother in law not long before he passed away, and told me what he remembered.
i have just received the telegram of his passing and states aircraft accident, which tallies with what his brother in law said, that his aircraft crashed on approach to RAF Cranfield (a beaufighter from his recollection)
and was suspected that when they switch to landing tanks, that one was empty (due to being shot/damaged) and the aircraft flipped over and dove into the ground, but i have no knowledge of whether this was possible or probable, or just a story of his.
i'm hoping that someone with more knowledge could answer this for me?
also if this was the case, then i would have thought there would be more info? here it states cause of death unknown.
any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
