    HOLME, Robert Charles Lyon, F/L, MC - died of injuries, Kirjut, Mesopotamia, 4 October 1922
    04/10/1922 04/10/1922 VICKERS VERNON J6865 of 45Sqn crashed on take-off, Kirkuk.

    Not all Vernon incidents were as benign as those described above. On October 4th (1922), Flt Lt Messenger crashed taking off from Kirkuk in J6865 and the aircraft caught fire. Messenger was badly burned and died ten days later. AC1 A A Milne die of his injuries six hours after the crash, the sole passenger on board, Flt Lt R C L Holme of No. 1 Sqn, had died instantly.

    KERSHAW, Frank. Sopwith Snipe two-seat dual control trainer E6600, No.25 Sqn. Spun in off sharp turn at 2,000ft, near Folkestone, Kent 24.7.1922. F/O H E Walker MC, AFC, seriously injured and AC1 F Kershaw killed.

    WILLIAMS, Frederick Thomas, F/L MBE. +18/01/22. BAT FK.23 Bantam F1653. Crashed Aldershot 10/01/22.

    HOOTON, Lionel Conrad, F/O/ MC and Bar - 16/05/22.

    Hooton was born in Barnett, Middlesex, on 21 May, 1891. He was educated at Melville Hall School, Hampstead, London. After leaving school, he emigrated to Canada, working in the Forestry Service and ranching in British Columbia.

    Hooton was possibly killed in Bristol Fighter D7845, at Baghdad, Iraq, on 16 May, 1922.

    GREEN/STIVEY +24/05/22. Both killed in No.2 Sqn Bristol Fighter J6673. For more information on Green, see the Military Cross reference (p.230), for Hooton (above).

    HARRICKS - 24/10/22 - Sopwith Snipe H4866.

    DaveW. Re: GAYES (29/11/22); my files tell me that Bristol Fighter F4340, collided with Sopwith Snipe E6749, at Warden, Isle of Sheppey, on 29 November, 1922.

    McKIEVER, Alfred Vivian - died at Cairo, aged 31 - source is the National Probate Calendar

    STONE Oliver Thornton - died at the Military Hospital, Jerusalem - source is the National Probate Calendar
