    Default Nuremburg Raid - 28th August 1942

No 103 Squadron ORB's show the route for this raid to be: Elsham Wolds, Furnes, Warms, Target, Speyes, Le Touquet, Beachy Head, Elsham Wolds.

Could anyone suggest where Furnes, Warms and Speyes may be as I am having difficulty mapping the route without understanding these locations.

Any help would be much appreciated

    Regards

    Pete

    Hi Pete
One suggestion for Warms would be to change the vowel, making it Worms, which is in the region between Frankfurt and Mannheim etc and a possible route point to avoid more major Flak concentrations en-route to the target.
A further look on Google maps shows a Furnes close to or part of Dunkirk,Belgium and close to a likely route to Nuremburg, perhaps questionable as a point to find on the available maps.

    Hello

Furnes is indeed a Belgian town, that's the French spelling, the Flemish spelling is Veurnes. It's very close to Coxyde, a few miles inland from the North Sea.

    Dick, Dunkirk is in France...

    Hello,

For Speyes, possibly Speyer, approx. 190km W. of Nuremburg, and 35km S of Mannheim,

Thanks for the feedback; much appreciated as always.

The suggested locations would seem to provide a reasonable route in and out. I will work on that basis for the time being.

Is anyone able to confirm the route from other documentation?

    Regards

    Pete
