    Default 1872241F/Sgt H J Burton 153 Sqdn

I think I am being misled on a couple of other sites due to the "Lost Bombers" syndrome that their owners have inherited. !

I have it that F/Sgt Burton was RAFVR, in Lancaster NN785 from Scampton to Dortmund, on 20/21 Feb 1945, crashed near Hasslinghausen but it seems others are of the "opinion" that the crew of that a/c had F/Sgt Burton in the RCAF.

My view, from reading other sources is that there were 4 Canadians, F/Lt Holman the pilot, his navigator, bomb-aimer and rear gunner, surviving to become POW's. Four others (three of them RAFVR, including a second pilot, P/O Peter Thorne) were killed. My man was W/Op A/Gnr.

Just like what ever anyone can add please, thank you

    Tony,
Lost Bombers site, have got it wrong, and that is strange, considering that most of it's material was stolen "word for word" from W.R. Chorley's works. Burton was RAF, and their were 5 RCAF in the crew of 8. I have a copy of the ORB.
