    Chorley has nothing to offer:

T/o 1749 Gransden Lodge similarly tasked [to mark the Deurag oil refinery]. All are buried in Hannover War Cemetery.

    Default Lancaster PB516

    Hello,

PB516 possibly collided with NG488 over the target. At the moment I'm checking the first burial place of the crews. I suppose it could be Langenhagen. Both crews are buried in a collective grave at Hannover.

I will write if I have further informations.

    kind regards

    Steve

    Default Pb516

    Hello,

The crew of PB516 was definetly not buried in Langenhagen cemetery.

Now I suppose that the crews of PB516 and NG488 were brought to Hannover-Ahlem cemetery immediately following the crash.

It's very hard to get infomations. I'll keep you up to date!

    kind regards

    Steve

From my notes, PB516 crashed near the target, the Deurag oil plant.

    Dear Mr. Walker,

could you please explain from which source you draw your conclusions? It would be very useful for further researches.

Unfortunately there is no report in the Luftgaumeldungen about this incident.

    Many thanks in advance!

    Kind regards

    Steve

    Hi Steve;

This information was supplied by Tony Wilson in Australia, from his years of research. I suspect the orignal source was either an Air Britain publication, or RAF records. Tony hasn't been well for some time, so I can't give you any more than that.

    Hi,

finally I have the information that NG488 collided with PB516 over Bad Sooden-Allendorf. PB516 crashed at Schloss Rothestein and NG488 crashed right to the west of Bad Sooden-Allendorf. 13 of those who died were first laid to rest at Bad Sooden-Allendorf. One crew member was later found at the crash site. Since the end of hostilities those who died rest in Hannover-Ahlem War Cemetery.

Source: Service records of F/L Parkhurst and F/O Small.

    regards

    Steve
