    Default Peenemunde… 428 squadron(unknown date)

I am trying to track down an operation from very little data.

So far I have the operation was to Peenemunde and 428 squadron was involved.
There were some losses (though not necessarily from 428 squadron.)

I’m looking for a date and if at all possible orb entries for the operation.

A rear gunner (Halifax) went onto serve with 76 (May 1944) and 35 (August 1944) squadrons, so this probably preceeds this.

    Any help would be appreciated.

428 Squadron was part of a large raid on Peenemunde on the night of 17/18 August 1943. They lost several aircraft, including Halifaxes DK230, DK238, DK243, DK260, EB211, EB258, EB276, JD158, JD163, and JD458. 410 Squadron RCAF also took part, losing several Lancasters. They were several RAF Squadrons involved as well, I don't track those details.

    Hi Paul,

I think Bill may have it wrong. 428 Sqn lost 3 aircraft on the night of 17/18 August 1943. They were Halifax's EB211, DK238 and DK230. 410 Sqn was a fighter Sqn. I have a list of all who took part in this raid. Please feel free to contact me off board on harleyDOT158ATbigpondDOTcom replace the DOT and AT with the usual.

    Regards,

    John.
