    McALERY, John Mecredy, F/L - Killed 4 January 1924, Hinaldi, Iraq in accident, No.1 Squadron, RAF,

    HARRISON, Robert Cuthbert, F/O - Killed 4 January 1924 flying with No.84 Squadron near Naziriyah, Iraq.

    CONRAN, Eric Lewis, S/L, MC - died 6 January 1924 following surgery.

    NICHOLSON, Ernest William, F/L - Died 14 January 1924 of natural causes - serving at Isle of Grain at the time.

    CLEVERLY, Sidney Mechen, S/L - Killed 15 January 1924, flying accident, Isle of Grain, Bristol Fighter following engine failure

    CURTIS, William Reginald, F/L - Killed 15 January 1924, flying accident, Isle of Grain, Bristol Fighter following engine failure

    STEVENS, LAC - Killed in airplane accident, Quetta, 25 January 1924.

    HUGH-JONES, David Jasper, F/O - Killed 29 January 1924, flying accident, No.27 Squadron, Risalpur, India. Reported to have made a force-landing, made repairs, and hit a tree on taking off.

    HALL, Corporal - died Risalpur, India, 12 February 1924 from injuries sustained in crash of F/O Hugh-Jones.

    SAVORY, John Charles, P/O - Killed in flying accident, No.56 Squadron, Biggin Hill, 15 February 1924

    SCUTT, George Howard Homer, F/L, MC - Killed in flying accident, Hawkinge,15 February 1924 flying a Sopwith Snipe which was seen to nose dive from about 500 feet.

    BOND, G.T., Sergeant Pilot - killed 3 March 1924 at Duxford as a result of a collision in the air. See Peck entry.

    LISTER, S., Sergeant Pilot - killed 3 March 1924 at Biggin Hill as a result of a Vimy crash; F/O S.W. Smith also killed; Sergeant M.S.H. Meech escaped unhurt.

    SMITH, Sydney William, F/O - Killed 3 March 1924 at Biggin Hill as a result of a Vimy crash; collision in the air. Sergeant S. Lister also killed. Sergeant M.S.H. Meech escaped unhurt.

    PECK, Jasper Godfrey, F/O - Killed 3 March 1924 at Duxford as a result of a collision in the air; passenger in a two-seater Snipe (pilot was F/L V.A. Albrecht) which collided with an Avro piloted by Sergeant G.T. Bond (killed, P/O W.A. Tattersall injured).

    TILMAN, Kenneth Cromar, F/L - Killed 11 March 1924 “accidentally on service” - a member of No.442 Flight. Subsequently reported he had been “killed while taking part in the Fleet exercises in the Mediterranean. His machine crashed just off the northern coast of Mallorca.”

    SHELLEY, Corporal - Killed 14 March 1924 at Farnborough, “as a result of a flying accident”’ on strength of No.1 FTS, Netheravon.

    JONES, Thomas Percy Taylor, P/O - Killed 29 April 1924 at Shotwick “as the result of a flying accident.” Turned too sharply at 200 feet and lost control.

    RICHARDS, Cyril Sydney, Aircraftman - Killed 29 April 1924 at Shotwick following accident involving P/O Jones.

    MARTIN, Eric, P/O, MC - Killed 2 May 1924 at Duxford when his Bristol Fighter collided with an Avro of the same station.

    MACKENZIE, Edward Charrington, Lieutenant, Royal Gallison Artillery, killed 16 May 1924 in air accident, Quetta.

    USHER-SOMERS, Edmund Cronin, F/O - Killed 16 May 1924 “as a result of a flying accident”, No.20 Squadron, Quetta, India.

    JONES, Robert Hilton, S/L, OBE - Died 31 May 1924 of pleurisy, at Marseilles.

    BREWER, W.H., Sergeant - killed 5 June 1924 at Spittlegate, Lincolnshire “as a result of a collision in the air”, No.39 Squadron.

    COPPLESTONE, AC1 - killed 5 June 1924 at Spittlegate, Lincolnshire “as a result of a collision in the air”, No.39 Squadron.

    USHER, Robert Howell Craster, F/L, MC AFC - Killed in flying accident, 5 June 1924 at Northolt, member of No.41 Squadron, reported to be flying a DH.42.

    DALY, Rowan Heywood, F/O DSC DFC - Killed 5 June 1924 at Spittlegate, Lincolnshire “as a result of a collision in the air”, No.39 Squadron.

    LUCAS, Leslie Gordon, F/O - Killed 5 June 1924 at Spittlegate, Lincolnshire “as a result of a collision in the air”, No.39 Squadron.

    SMITH, Edward Ewart Paull, F/O - Drowned 25 June 1924 at Felixstowe, reportedly after a flying accident, Marine Aircraft Experimental Establishment.

    CREAMER, Reginald Cyril, F/O, DFC - killed 26 June 1924

    TOOKE, Benjamin Cecil, F/L - died 11 July 1924, in hospital, Basrah “after a short illness.”

    GLEN, John McGowan, F/L, MC - died 17 July 1924

    WATSON, Myles Birket Foster, F/O - died of injuries 21 July 1924

    DAY, William Conway, F/L MC - death presumed 25 July 1924 - No.84 Squadron, DH.9a H47. Aircraft on an armed desert patrol, searching for raiding party. Landed in the desert for unknown reasons, morning of 24 July 1924 and was found by searching machines that afternoon. Footprints were traceable for about 40 yards in the direction of Jalibah Railway Station, twelve miles due north. Some rations and a drum with 3 ½ gallons of water found in aircraft and from the position of the drum with the funnel resting on it the presumption was made that the two men had filled their water bottles before leaving. Traces of blood on the machine suggested that F/L Day had been slightly injured, but no message was left behind. Aeroplane of 18 March 1925 stated that “remains recently discovered in the desert in Iraq” had been identified as being those of Day and Stewart. It was concluded that they had lost their way and died of heat exhaustion; death was dated the day after they had force-landed.

    STEWART, Donald Ramsay, F/O - death presumed 25 July 1924 (with W.C.Day)

    BELL, Edward, F/O - Killed 28 July 1924 - No.28 Squadron - Six aircraft of Nos.5 and 28 Squadrons ran into fog. Three crashed as one (piloted by S/L Capel of No.5 Squadron) landed in hostile territory. F/O Bell crashed at Duncans Picquet; his passenger, AC1 P. Slack, died of injuries on 30 July 1924.

    ANDERSON, Ian Patrick, F/O - Killed 28 July 1924 - No.28 Squadron - Six aircraft of Nos.5 and 28 Squadrons ran into fog. Three crashed as one (piloted by S/L Capel of No.5 Squadron) landed in hostile territory. Anderson crashed on landing at Ramak; killed with his passenger, AC1 K.H. Taylor.

    TAYLOR, K.H., AC1 - Killed 28 July 1924 - No.28 Squadron with F/O I.P. Anderson.

    SLACK, P. AC1 - No.28 Squadron - died 30 July 1924 of injuries sustained on 28 July 1924 with F/O E. Bell.

    MORPHY, Douglas McGillycuddy, F/O - Killed 4 August 1924 - No.28 Squadron - crashed following engine failure at Peshwar.

    All I know is that he was Corp Thomas H Hall in all probability #326962 Thomas Henry Hall

    05/06/24 - DALY/BREWER - De Havilland D.H.9A E8654, collided with D.H.9A J7087 - LUCAS/AC1 T.COPPLESTONE.
    17/10/24 - PECKOVER - De Havilland D.H.9A F2807, spun in from 800ft, 2m NW of Abu Sueir - burnt out.
