Default 8 (c) otu orb dyce, july 1943

    Hi All,

Does anyone out there happen to have a copy of the ORB for this PR OTU? I am trying to find out how many PR Spitfires were airborne on the morning of 19th July 1943.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Regards
    Dave

A correction to the above: I need ORB for JUNE 1943 not July.

    Hi Dave,

The ORB makes no mention of the number Spitfire sorties flown on 19 Jun 43 from Dyce. Only entry of interest on this date is the loss of R7198 (Sgt J.E. MOSLEY 1467449, killed) which crashed at Talisker while on a cross country exercise.

    Thanks Andy,

This is the aircraft I am working on, I wondered if it was the only Spit up on such an exercise that day. Is there a time of take off by any chance?

Oddly the 1180 seems to have disappeared from Hendon so if anyone has this before it was lost? Or details of Mosley`s flying hours I`d be most grateful.

    Regards
    Dave

    Dave,

I'm afraid no mention is made of the take off time. The 8(C) OTU ORB is generally quite vague in most instances.

    Cheers
