    Default 1945 Personnel Losses

I have been asked if I can help to identify the aircraft / loss location relating to the following personnel losses, all of whom were concentrated (re-interred) in war cemeteries in Germany.

    30/06/1945 '170473' W J BOOTS 182 Sqdn.

    06/07/1945 'J/23818' R W C DAVIS 414 Sqdn.
07/06/1945 'J/17641' T J DE COURCY 443 Sqdn (Died in a car accident - 20 miles SW of Hamburg at Triede - Germany)
    25/06/1945 '198108' G DOUGLAS 50 Sqdn.
    28/06/1945 '71196' L P COX
    29/06/1945 E A D KEMPSTER (Anson DG916)

    22/07/1945 '359409' J A F FEW
    22/07/1945 '1216100' J T FINCHAM

I haven't had a chance to look in any detail but thought I would put the list up on here to see if anyone is able to chip in.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Regards

I have been asked to extend my search to include losses in April and May 1945 (the ones in my previous list were for June and July 1945) which means I need to add the following to my original list.

    '1604041' FREDERICK ARTHUR EDWARDS 01/04/1945 137 Sqdn.
'1392424' ALEC GEORGE THOMAS MUTTOCK 04/04/1945 175 Sqdn.
    '1622055' JOHN OWEN JONES 04/04/1945 181 Sqdn.
    'J/11978' ROBERT FRANCIS GALBRAITH 05/04/1945 181 Sqdn.
    '153796' WILLIAM DONALD 04/04/1945 222 Sqdn.
    '191523' WILLIAM BERESFORD WEIR 09/04/1945 274 Sqdn
    '163147' PETER ASHFORTH HALLIWELL 04/04/1945 274 Sqdn.
'1804364' FRANCIS PATRICK ALEXANDER DONOVAN 03/05/1945 341 (French) Sqdn
    'J/19447' STANLEY ERNEST MESSUM 06/04/1945 443 Sqdn.
    '811087' JOHN HANNETT 18/04/1945

I have also been advised that the search relates to the loss of a MUSTANG which caught fire, with the pilot baling out in the Wuppertal area of Germany sometime between April 1945 and July 1945; it is not known if the pilot survived, hence the attempt to eliminate these names from the search.

It may well be that the Mustang experts and/or the bale out experts have information that might help on this one too.

It could, of course, have been a USAAF aircraft, but the enquirer is of the belief that it was a RAF plane.

Your usual help would be much appreciated.

    Regards

    Pete
