Default 20-21 July 1944 Courtrai and Homberg raids questions

    Dear all,

For the research of the NJWD 2nd edition, I have a couple of questions re. three bomber losses during the 20-21 July 1944 Courtrai and Homberg raids:

-What was the cause of loss of 467 Squadron Lancaster LM101 (1st wave Courtrai raid) in the target area?
-What was the cause of loss of 101 Squadron Lancaster W4967 (2nd wave Courtrai raid) in the target area?

-Who can provide details from the combat report of 115 Squadron Lancaster LM510, which was badly shot up by a NF and crashed upon return at Woodbridge. Especially any details of the location & time of the NF attack would be very useful!

-During the Courtrai raid, a twin-engined fighter was claimed shot down in a ball of fire by the gunners of 106 Squadron Lancaster LM211; the fighter was seen to explode on the ground at 01.07 hrs. Who can provide the location where the fighter crashed, and which is probably mentioned in the Combat Report?

Cheers and thanks for any info!

    Theo

    Default Lm510

    Hello Alan (or Theo)

For my 'RAF Woodbridge Arrivals' research I wonder if I could possibly request a copy of LM510's crew's combat report to expand upon my own notes. I have a photo of the Woodbridge ORB page with this arrival but it doesn't really tell me anything about the circumstances of the damage to the a/c and the loss of its two crew members.

Hope you don't mind this request, and thank you in anticipation.

    Kind regards

    Ian

    Hello Alain,

.. I have the following NJ loss that could fit to the 106 Sqn Lancaster claim:

Bf110 G-4 D5+CK of 2./NJG3 was shot down near Herentals, east of Antwerp, with the loss of Uffz. Reinisch and one of his crew

And the Combat Report of LM510 that Alan kindly provided does make gruesome reading..

    Cheers, Theo

Although this is an old thread I am seeking route maps for 115 sqn raid Homberg 21/22 July 1944. I have the Sqn Diary which gives the list of planes but not the route. I would also be interested in route maps for any other sqn in the same raid Alieneyes & Greg mentioned 101 Sqn in a thread on the old site that I found.
    Many thanks
