    BITHELL 1696431 - there's a Frederick Bithell, aged 22, registered in Horncastle, Lincs in the Jan/Feb/Mar 1945 registration period.

    Altman died as a result of a road traffic accident on the 28th, he was assigned to the Y station at Cheadle was a passenger in a lorry travelling from Uttoxeter to Tean when the lorry swerved to avoid hitting a bus conductor who crossed the road from behind the bus. Altman fell against the door of the lorry and it didn't hold him in, he suffered serious injuries when he landed on the road and died in London Road hospital in Stoke-on-Trent.

    BITHELL, Frederick - LAC - 1696431 - an announcement in the Manchester Evening news of December 1st 1944 records that he died as "the result of an accident."
