Default Information needed on Beaufort I AW273

Who can give me more information on the Beaufort I AW273 with Squadron Leader (Pilot) Thomas Ivor Mathewson of 96 Squadron ? It crashed on February 12th 1942 in the Northsea near The Netherlands.

What's the reason that it crashed and what was his mission ?
From wich RAF-base was it coming ?
And did he succeed his mission ?

    Thanks
    Ronald

The body of S/Ldr Mathewson was found 25-4-1942 on the beach near Kijkduin. F/O Stephens was buried at Hoek van Holland 3-7-1942.
