    Hello Malcolm,

Claessen is recorded in CWGC site as 44 Squadron.
So Looks like Richards was also with 44 Squadron, yes?

    Hi Alex

The BC Roll of Honour (Chorley Vol 9) confirms Claessen with 44 Sqn but does not show Richards so they may simply have been in the same place at the same time on leave.

    Default Cpl Sydney John Clark

Not sure how I missed this one, Alex, but he was a meteorologist with No 19 Terminal Staging Post at forward airfield B70 (Deurne now Antwerp International Airport). According to his death certifcate he died as a result of enemy action, which I thought might have been a V1 incident, not that I could confirm it. Secondary source was AIR29/461.

Further to #5 a V1 hit the dispersal areas of 341 and 349 Squadrons and a number of ground personnel were hit by shrapnel (329 Squadron ORB (AIR 27/1720).

Clark, standing outside the met tent, was one of those hit, receiving the injuries from which he died (from Clark's son).

It would seem that Barr was another of the ground personnel hit by shrapnel.

I am looking at Sergeant 863337 Harold Ernest Francis Grigg and was hoping that someone would be able to tell me:-

    1) Where and when he enlisted
    2) Who he was attached to
    3) How he died

    Many thanks!

    Death certificate arrived.

Sergeant Harold Ernest Francis Grigg died at Fusehill Emergency Hospital from internal haemorrhage and injuries sustained through being accidentally struck by an armoured vehicle whilst driving a car.

His address was 32 George Street, Barry, where he was living with his wife Eileen Mary Grigg.

Anyone able to help with where and when he enlisted and whom he was attached to?

I'm thinking that he was at RAF Kingstown and probably No 15 Flying Grading School, but would welcome some feedback on this.
