Default 76 Sqdn Photo Kassel (22 Oct 1943)

    Hi,

I am trying to put the names to the faces of a photo that shows 76 Squadron crews at Holme-on-Spalding Moor, preparing for a raid on Kassel 22nd October 1943. The photo can be seen at the website page below,

    http://aircrewremembered.com/hulthin-leif.html

If anyone can help by recognising a face or perhaps knows a relative that took part I would like to hear from them?

I have a high resolution copy of this photo and a similar one that appears in ' To See The Dawn Breaking ' by Bill Chorley. From the photo I have recognised my uncle Sgt N.M Harrison and two other members of Dibbins crew. This was the crws first operation.

22 Halifax crews took part and were captained by :-

    F/S Matthews
    Sgt Cable
    Sgt Wade-Seymour
    F/O Bolt
    F/O Stewart
    P/O Falgate
    F/S Jenkins
    F/S Murray
    Sgt Dibbins
    F/L Hicks
    Sgt Cole
    F/S Forsyth
    P/O Greenacre
Lt Hulthin (crew failed to return)
    F/L Williams
    P/O Mann
    2lt Johnson
    P/O Troake
    P/O Smith
    F/L Steele
    Sgt Davies
    Sgt Whitehead

    Regards,
    Mike

Hi Mike! You ask for names to faces.....I believe I can see the man who would have been my uncle, had he lived. I have only seen a picture of him taken at flight school, but I believe the man a little to the right of the picture centre, wearing a peaked cap, looking towards the camera is L. E. Hulthin, who was lost in the raid. I would be very grateful if you could send the high res picture to me, then I can be more certain. It looks like he stands next to a man who looks just like FO Pringle, whose picture is also at the aircrewremebered-site. It makes sense that a crew stand waiting together...
