SMITH, Sydney William, F/O - Killed 3 March 1924 at Biggin Hill as a result of a Vimy crash; collision in the air. Sergeant S. Lister also killed. Sergeant M.S.H. Meech escaped unhurt.

PECK, Jasper Godfrey, F/O - Killed 3 March 1924 at Duxford as a result of a collision in the air; passenger in a two-seater Snipe (pilot was F/L V.A. Albrecht) which collided with an Avro piloted by Sergeant G.T. Bond (killed, P/O W.A. Tattersall injured).

TILMAN, Kenneth Cromar, F/L - Killed 11 March 1924 “accidentally on service” - a member of No.442 Flight. Subsequently reported he had been “killed while taking part in the Fleet exercises in the Mediterranean. His machine crashed just off the northern coast of Mallorca.”

DAY, William Conway, F/L MC - death presumed 25 July 1924 - No.84 Squadron, DH.9a H47. Aircraft on an armed desert patrol, searching for raiding party. Landed in the desert for unknown reasons, morning of 24 July 1924 and was found by searching machines that afternoon. Footprints were traceable for about 40 yards in the direction of Jalibah Railway Station, twelve miles due north. Some rations and a drum with 3 ½ gallons of water found in aircraft and from the position of the drum with the funnel resting on it the presumption was made that the two men had filled their water bottles before leaving. Traces of blood on the machine suggested that F/L Day had been slightly injured, but no message was left behind. Aeroplane of 18 March 1925 stated that “remains recently discovered in the desert in Iraq” had been identified as being those of Day and Stewart. It was concluded that they had lost their way and died of heat exhaustion; death was dated the day after they had force-landed.

BELL, Edward, F/O - Killed 28 July 1924 - No.28 Squadron - Six aircraft of Nos.5 and 28 Squadrons ran into fog. Three crashed as one (piloted by S/L Capel of No.5 Squadron) landed in hostile territory. F/O Bell crashed at Duncans Picquet; his passenger, AC1 P. Slack, died of injuries on 30 July 1924.

ANDERSON, Ian Patrick, F/O - Killed 28 July 1924 - No.28 Squadron - Six aircraft of Nos.5 and 28 Squadrons ran into fog. Three crashed as one (piloted by S/L Capel of No.5 Squadron) landed in hostile territory. Anderson crashed on landing at Ramak; killed with his passenger, AC1 K.H. Taylor.
