I can confirm Wainer and Would on the Oxford, you should also add Smith to this crew. I have seen the appropriate entries in the Scottish Death register.

SMITH William Thomson (Thompson*) 135706 - died in the Dunbog District of Fife, of a fractured skull due to an aircraft crash.

*The Statutory Death Notice on Scotland's People says Thomson, and the National Probate Calendar on ancsestry.co.uk lists him as "William Thompson otherwise William Thomson".

    Regards

    Simon

    Hello,

Having found my way to this site whilst exploring my family history, may I confirm that I am a niece of the late Corporal Enid Slaney Brown.

Slaney (frequently erroneously reported as 'Stanley') was Enid's mother's (my grandmother's) maiden name.

She did indeed die having been hit by a bus which was returning US Army personnel back to their base near Lichfield ,Staffs.
The driver of the bus was in no way to blame .It was a tragedy for all concerned.

I have in my possession and treasure greatly, her two WAAF Medical Corps collar badges which my late mother , Enid's sister, Mervyn was permitted to keep.

    Kind regards,

    Barbara (in Penzance)
