BARLOW, Harry - LAC - 1495534 - died in a road accident

L.A.C.’s Road Death
A misadventure verdict was returned by the Deputy Coroner (Mr. A. L. Ashton) an inquest yesterday, on Leading Aircraftman Harry Barlow, aged 33 of 3 Mount Pleasant Adlinqton. near Clorlev, who was fatally injured in a road accident near Bradkirk Hall, Wesham. on Monday. Barlow received multiple injuries when a R.A.F. lorry, in which he was a passenger, skidded and overturned on the icy road. He died in a R.A.F. hospital in the North-West.

Air of Authority web site lists AVM Mansell as dying of a heart attack in Washington, DC, while serving with the RAF delegation there. Odd that he would be listed on the Ottawa Memorial (usually means body not found).

Mansell being on the memorial probably jyst reflects his burial not having been controlled by the CWGC. His family might have been able to have him buried privately. Or the IWGC were not told where his remains were buried. Similar to those buried in municiple cemetries in Ireland and England whose names are on screen walls. I woukd not read this to mean he was missing.

Died of tuberculosis menigitis in Northern Ireland. Service records and CWGC indicate posting to 131 OTU at time of death.

Hubert Llewellyn Morgan 1739087 , attached to Number 6298 SE , was seriously injured in an on duty accident at RAF Tarrant Rushton. Admitted to the 106th US general hospital, Wimborne , he died of his injuries at 00:10 hours

UPGRADE to Joseph Martin O'Leary J 21714 , a navigator attached to 131 OTU, he died in Eniskillen hospital at 04:00 hours of tuberculosis meningitis

Edgar William Hallam 75269 , a medically discharged Airman at the time of his death, had been admitted seriously ill to the Royal Salop hospital, Shrewsbury on 11 May 1944. He was discharged to an illegibly named convalescent home and discharged, dying in the Louth Hospital of a perforated gastric ulcer

Francis Patrick Anderson 152884 , attached to 2955 Squadron RAF Regiment, was admitted dangerously ill to Pontefract General Infirmary on 21 January, where he died of anaemia following tonsillitis
