    Default 70 squadron july 3rd 1943

I have pilot Sgt Edgar Heywood, bomb aimer Sgt Gordon Bennett, Nav Sgt John McGarry CGM and gunner Sgt Gerald Smith. It seems likely they were from Kairouan, Tunisia to Olbia when they went missing 2/3 July 1943. No where can I find other details, ie aircraft etc. Got details for McGarry's CGM but not his final mission. My interest is Sgt Gerald Alex Smith form Burwell, Cambs.

Thanks for that Col.. I had just realised the numbers did not add up, and of course CWGC did not have W/O Nickalls with a squadron and I am afraid I needed a pilot and had erroneously given that task to Edgar Heywood, after all a plane may well operate without a specified Wop but definitely needs a pilot. I knew Woods and Bennett were with Smith and McGarry when the later got his CGM.
I must add that Oz site to my favourites and remember it is there!
