    Default Unaccounted airmen - 15-11-1940

What caused the death of and/or what was the place of death registration for:

    AC2 Eric V. HORTON - 751162 - killed on active service.

Proposed aircraft losses for this day:

Hart I - K5040 - 9 FTS - flew into ground Knockdown, 1 mile NW of Sherston, Wiltshire.
    Hector I - K9726 - 30 MU - spun into ground Maddington Down, Wiltshire.
    Hector I - K9733 - 6 FPP - crashed on landing Henlow.

Also look out for a confirmation that:
    Sgt (Pilot u/t) Joseph A. HARTOP - 745668 - 607 Sqn,
was killed on Hurricane P3305 (607 Sqn - Drem, East Lothian); flew into ground 2 mile NE of Grangemouth, West Lothian.

Regards and thanks for your help.
    Henk.

Joseph A. HARTOP death is registered at Grangemouth in Stirlingshire - So yes it looks like he WAS on Hurricane P3305

    Hi Eddie
Cwgc gives Horton as Dying on 15/11/40 and buried at Driffield Cemetery. I found him registered in the 4th Qtr of 1940, Aug would be the 3rd Qtr. It makes it possible that he was wounded in the Aug bombing ,and reported as a casualty, but died in Nov '40.

    Dick

    Well spotted Dick

The daft thing is I looked at my photo of his Headstone before posting and still got it wrong!! You are correct - injured and died later (he is on the memorial stone on the airfield detailing those who died as a result of the air raid)
