    Default RAF recruit from Scotland

I am researching the crew of an RAAF Lancaster shot down in 1943. Amongst the dead were two Scottish boys from Ayrshire, John McClymont Dunlop and Peter Mallon. I am currently researching John Dunlop and am hoping I may be able to get some advice. His RAF record states his first posting on 8.2.43 was "Edinb./1ACRC". As I can find no record of an Air Crew Reception Centre in Edinburgh (only Nos 16, 24 & 25 Aviation Candidate Selection Board - Savings Bank Buildings, Hanover Street, Edinburgh) would I be right in assuming that this notation means he enlisted in Edinburgh and then was posted, perhaps on the same day, to No.1 ACRC in Regent's Park? Or, was there a No. 1 ACRC in Scotland, as opposed to the No.1 ACRC in England? Grateful for any help.

    Hi Mike,
    welcome aboard!
I would say that it means No.1 ACRC in Regent's Park, there was only one such a unit around the UK as far as I know.

Sorry I can not help you more.

    Best regards
