    Hi Peter, Mojmir

    As always, thank you.

The 623 ORB is simple shocking, Sergeant J S Bates is shown in two separate crews in two separate roles, I think the odds of two J R Bates are remote. But you never know !!

    Thanks again.

You'd be surprised. What has your review of AIR78 shown?

    Hi Dennis,

Nothing as yet, could not get anything out of the NA site on Sunday, the Air78 just would not open. Obviously Sunday is a day of heavy use, not home until Christmas Eve so it will have to wait

Sadly the 623 Squadron ORB does not record service numbers for 95% of aircrew movements, and to compound the problems any one individual's initials and surname spelling will change from raid to raid so it is difficult to determine what one is correct. OK when you have a surname like Lomas, but the likes of Bennett ( spelt three different ways) - Smith – Baker and Jones it is proving especially difficult when the initial keep changing, however I am sure you have encountered this in your research.

Out of interest, is there two J R Bates ?
