    Default F/l r.j. Neal

    Hello,

I'm looking for the service number and first names of the abovementioned pilot. He was the pilot in command of Halifax L9601 on 23 Aug 42 (78 CF) when the accident occurred. No trace of him in AFL 1945 nor in CWGC site.

    Any idea?

Thanks in advance and Happy New Year to you all.

    Phil

I think your man is Robert James Neale, I'm away from my records at the moment so don't have his number to hand. You'll note that there is an e on the end of the surname. If it is one and the same man, he was awarded a DFC in 1943.

    Hope this helps

    Try: Robert James and 36258.

    Was awarded DFC 13/8/43.

Also he was born 13/7/18, commissioned 9/4/40, s/l 1/9/45 and retired in 1958 retaining the rank of Wing Commander ie he was an acting W/C at some stage, probably in the war. He was in the RAF Retired List for 1982 but gone by 2006.

    Phil, Hi

The London Gazette, Issue 34840, Page 2556
    Robert James NEAL ( 36258).

No 'e' at the end of 'Neal' in the gazetting of his Commission.
