Default A long shot - Air Gunner Joce, shot down, PoW, WWII

    Hi all,

I have very vague reminiscence about Mr. Joce serving with the RAF Survival School in Mountbatten in the 70s who was "an Air Gunner shot down, baled out and spent the rest of war as a PoW".

Unfortunately I was unable to find him in PoW list provide by Ross on this site.

Anyone has any ideas if this should be the true story and any suggestion for identification?

    TIA

Some can easily be discarded, but there are a few that might be your man? Can't comment on the PoW angle!

Can confirm what Col has provided. Also appears in "Footprints" but no known details on which camp he was in.

1881284 in AIR 78/86 is definitely CHARLES Samuel Joce (no annotations!).
So, "Chester Samuel Joce", "Charles Samuel Joce", or "G S Joce"?. But if Pavel is going to dig this bloke out of the very bottom of the RAF archaeology trench then he needs, I suspect, to get the name right?

    Hello,

My, "Chester Samuel", was derived from an unreliable source. l can live with "Charles Samuel", so to speak!
