    Default Logbook entry

    On the first page of my late brothers (Flt/Sgt W.A. Dearman 635140) logbook is an entry which reads :- RAF Beaulieu 35332. Can anyone shed any light as to what this number refers ?

    Mike, Hi,
    Unless somebody comes up the answer a bit sharpish then we may have to indulge in some serious "outside the box" thinking!! Beaulieu was used by various Units (RAF and USAF), but it was also used (on occasions) by the Spook Airlines as a refuelling/jumping-off point for Nefarious Purposes Committee business on the Continent. There was a Flt Lt George John Downs (35332), MBE. Was he involved in the Spook/Hooligan trade? Stranger things have happened!!

    Mike,

    If you provide a date that would help identify the squadron he was with, from that you could access the relevant ORB from the NA which should help you find if he was flying that day.

    Edit: If you have his service record that should show his squadron.

    Hello Brian and Peter,
    An interesting thought regarding the Spooks,one never knows!.The dates concerned are as follows;
    Tony joined the RAF in February of 1939.The first entry in his logbook was June 1941 and his first squadron was 95 in Oct 1941 until Oct 1942 then an instructor Nov 42 to July 43.He joined 53 Squadron probably in Aug 43 (his first flight being 10th Aug)and was sadly killed in action on 4th October 1943. The squadron moved to RAF Beaulieu on 25th July 43.
    regards Mike
