    Default No. 3 Manning Depot, RCAF Rockcliffe

    Hi all,

    I would like to ask for help to solve following mystery:
    in a RCAF service report of an observer trained in 1940 in BCATP is mentioned that he was posted to No. 3 Manning Depot, RCAF Rockcliffe before posted overseas.

    The problem is that all available sources stated that No. 3 Manning Depot was in Edmonton, Alberta and if I will think about the typo, No. 7 Manning Depot, RCAF Rockcliffe was founded in 1943.

    Could anybody help me to sort it out?

    TIA

    Pavel

    Pavel;

    Rockcliffe was very much the centre of the universe for the RCAF in 1940. Many units were first formed there before moving to a final destination. No.3 MD was formed at Rockcliffe in June 1940, and moved to Edmonton in December 1940. More info at http://jfchalifoux.com/bases_stations_moosenee_to_senneterre.htm

    I have also seen references to No. 3 MD detachments at Brandon and Moncton, although the Moncton unit may have No. 3 MD, RAF.

    Hopefully Dakota will have access to more information on this.

    Many thanks Bill, I hope that Chris will possibly have more details.
