    Default 754132 Sgt Plt R J Thoburn

Can anyone provide me the forename of the above pilot, please?

He was shot down in Spit IIa, P8173, and captured while flying with 266 Sqn on Circus 31 on 3 July 1941.

    Thanks
    Steve

    Hello Steve

I'll be able to confirm his name and service number when I get back home, but Reginald John seems right, from memory. I have found his PoW questionnaire at Kew, which was misfiled in a wrong reference, and I failed to find it in the proper one each time I had tried before, and it was a real chance discovery.

I have a very keen interest in that pilot, who hailed from London (looked up his address on "streetview") as I dug out some parts from his Spitfire in 2001. Colin Pateman (also a member of the board) forwarded me a sketch of that pilot, from a fellow "kriegie" 's scratchbook.

    More later

Brilliant, thank you Peter and Joss.

Joss - I saw an archived post from you on this pilot with initials only (from 2001), but there was no reply. Glad you were able to find the answer in the meantime!

    Regards
    Steve
