    Default M.l.a. ?

    Hi

If CLA means Creeping Line Ahead can anyone explain what MLA might mean in regard to maritime recce operations?

    All the best

    Hi Malcolm,

A Creeping Line Ahead search always requires a direction to move in addition to track spacing and track length.

Can be described as box co-ordinates and track spacing or, more usually, direction (of advance) from central start position with track spacing eg 090 deg T, 10 nm.

The latter is described as Mean Line of Advance MLA.

You can also have a MLA without CLA when the zig zag course of a convoy is described in orders.

    Regards
    Ross
