Default Sergeant W. Morgan DFM - PRU RAF Benson

I have seen an article that Sgt W. Morgan from the PRU at Benson on the 14th April 1941 undertook a reconnaissance mission that lasted 7 hours and 10 minutes. He landed at at RAF Hawkinge with only 2 gallons of fuel left. He was later awarded the DFM.

Would anyone have the details of the aircraft used. I my mind I was thinking it could have been a Spitfire PR Type D (PR.IV).

    Thanks,
    Mick

    Hi Mick,

On his sortie to northern Italy Morgan was flying Spitfire P9552. It was indeed a PR Type D.
