Default RAF Flying Log books - aircraft serial numbers

I have been allowed to look at the log book of an air gunner from WW2. Very few serials appear in the entries, with usually just the individual aircraft code letter recorded. Any ideas as to how to find out the serial numbers? He served with 35 Sqn., 8 Group, on Lancasters. Any guidance will be much appreciated.

I am in the process of documenting the history of No 35 Squadron so if you can give me the dates and letters I should be able to let you have the relevant serial numbers.

Thanks for the listing; if you can give me a couple of days (as I am in the middle of fitting a kitchen) I will document the history of the crew whilst with No 35 Squadron.

It is worth noting that my partner's grandfather and his crew were lost in ME334 (TL-Q) in February 1945.

    Regards

I think my partner would whole heartedly agree with you ......... she has already been without water in the kitchen for three days due to tardy tradesmen and faulty taps, so she is not a happy bunny!.

I am not sure if you want to publish the name that your are researching but I have the initials AGW and STA as the air gunners ... can you confirm which one you are interested in or e-mail me with the name. (My e-mail address should be in my profile)

    Regards

Hi Ian and thanks for your original posting.
My father, also an air gunner, and crew were on the squadron around the same time having volunteered from 578 squadron. I note that the air gunner you are connected with was flying the same night when my father was badly wounded (23/24 June - Op 11 for your veteran).
Both crews also appear to have flown on the nights of the 9th and 16th of June (Rennes Air field and Renescure - the latter I have visited).
A small world indeed given the amount of time that has now passed.
Is your veteran still with us?

I don't feel it would not be fitting to not give his rank and surname. The air gunner I am interested in is Flying Officer S.T. Ashton.
