Hello friends,

I looking for any info about loss of 608 sq - DH98 Mosquito B Mk. XX (KB273) 6T-E from Berlin raid 28.2.1945 and his crew pilot F/O H.W.Tyrell (Hoyt) - evaded, navigator Sgt H.J.Erben - injured (in hospital till liberation)

Hello Munro,
AB Serials has 29-2-1945 what's incorrect because 1945 was not a leap year ! Have a note that they suffered fuel problems and baled out ± 20.35h near Bismark (Altmark) what's W of Stendal. F/O Henri W. GUYT - note spelling (!) (aka H.W. TYRRELL) - 175963 was from The Netherlands. He escaped twice from Germans (Footprints on the Sands of Time - Oliver Clutton-Brock). He survived an accident 10-5-1940 on Douglas DB-8A (serial 382) of 3-V-2 (Dutch Air Force). Baled out and wounded in parachute (Battle of France Then and Now - Peter Cornwell). The navigator was from Czechoslovakia.

Many thanks gor info about F/O Henri W. GUYT - could you be so kind and provide me more info about him?
Concerning to navigator H.J.Erben, he was born in Vienna in family of slovak jews.

Munro,
What I know is that he tried to escape to the UK, however was betrayed and arrested by the German Secret Police. Sentenced to 2 year imprisonment 13-3-1941. Was in a house of correction at Lüttringhausen, Germany. Severely injured left foot while unloading a railway waggon. Foot partly amputated. Back in Holland 27-10-1942 and involved in the Underground Resistance. Left Holland 25-1-1944 and arrived in UK 16-3-1944 via Belgium, France and Spain. Despite his handicap he evaded capture 28-2-1945, however was arrested near Remagen and transferred to Dulag Luft at Wetzlar where he was liberated by advancing US troops some weeks later. After the war employed with the KLM (Koninlijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij - Royal Dutch Airlines). He was awarded with the British DFC.
