    Default Grid references 1943

Last request for help with 519 Squadron, I promise.

The first month (August 1943) of the 519 ORB records positions as grid references such as:

    CXAG 4700, CXZR 0220, CXAG 5100, TKJV 2855, BHUG 3325.

Is there a standard document/map that would allow me to convert these to latitude/longitude?

    Default

Coastal Command/Admiralty Lat Log codes. Changed at odd intervals. In the case for Aug 1943 same letters different positions depending on date.

1 to 15 Aug then changed 16 to 31 Aug.

    CX for 1 to 15 = 60 deg N UG = 10 deg W

    also

    TK for 16 to 31 = 58 deg N, JV = 4 deg W so 58 28N 04 55W
    BH for 16 to 31 = 62 deg N, UG = 3 deg W so 62 33N 03 25W

Thank you for such a quick reponse, Ross, I am extremely grateful. I can now plot the track profiles of the long range met reconnaissances.
