Default Missing Wellington (?) No. 15 OTU, August 14th 1942

I have the service Record for Flight Lieutenant Harold Wilson, and it states that he was 'Missing now interred' on August 14th 1942, then noted as 'Missing now safe'.

At the time he was with No. 15 OU and would probably have been flying a Wellington, interred in Portugal I am told by his son.

Can anyone give any more details of this incident? Aircraft, duty, outcome? He was back in the UK by the 24th of that month.

    Many thanks

    Absolute star Col! Many thanks!

Curious that the Mi6 page shows them as No. 1443 Sqn, with the others as OADU (I presume Overseas Aircraft Delivery Unit?) when his service record shows only No. 15 OTU.

    Hello,

It was actually No.1443 (Ferry Training) Flight, Harwell (attached to 15 OTU). The aircraft would have been on No.1 OADU's books.
