Default Arnold Scheme Class SE 42 I

    Hi
I have recently got hold of my uncles RAF service record and have worked out that he was on the Arnold Scheme class SE 42 I. Does anyone have any info or photos of this particular class ? I have the Arnold Scheme book which is very informative, but would like to find out more if possible.

    Thanks in advance.

    Martin,

    Welcome to the Forum.

Would you care to mention your Uncle's name and service number?

A start was made to get the Arnold (Scheme) Register online, but it seems to have stagnated:

http://www.arnold-scheme.org/The%20A...20Register.htm Use the Contact Details info for more.

l have quite a few copies of the Arnold Scheme Register, some of which contain incomplete listings of the various classes.

    Martin,

Your Uncle is not listed as a registrant or Founder Member on the Index of Arnold Scheme members (as of 23-4-1996) Don't let that deter you. l would contact Nicola Bate at the site l have mentioned, and ask how the Class Rolls are coming along.

For those with a copy of "The Arnold Scheme", Class SE-42-I is covered on pp.329-333, and in Appendix I.

    Best of luck.

    Col.

    Thanks Col
I have emailed Nicola Bate and am waiting for a reply.
He didn't complete his Pilot training as he re mustered as a Bomb Aimer, and ended up on 58 course Air Bombers at 10 AOS in Chatham New Brunswick.
