Default RCAF Troop Transport to UK - March 9, 1943 from New York

In reviewing my uncle's RCAF records, it lists that he Embarked on March 9, 1943 in New York, and disembarked in the UK on March 17, 1943. However it doesn't say where he disembarked. I know he was assigned to 3 PRC on March 17th, but no further details.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find some information regarding the convoy or ship that he would have sailed in/on, or where he would have landed in the UK?

    Thanks

    David

The boats usually put in at Gourock, Scotland. The airmen were then put on trains to Bournemouth.

Sounds like convoy HX.229A or HX230.

Both departed from New York a few days round that date with the main part arriving in Liverpool (they normally split to different UK arrival ports in the Northern Approaches).

You can exclude the independent sailings of RMS Queen Mary as she was tasked elsewhere.

Another possibility is QUEEN ELIZABETH, sailed from NY March 10, arrived Clyde March 16, traveled without escort and was designated convoy AT 38.
