    Default AVM Norman Hoad

My recent RAFA magazine announces the death of AVM Norman Hoad. CO Lyneham, Abingdon, and AOC 46 Grp. Also Commander UK JATFOR (when we still had a sizeable parachute force to drop - and the means to drop it!). Brilliant aircraft/animal paintings. Good man. RIP.

Indeed a fine officer and an exceptionally talented artist.

Norman Hoad was shot down in late 1944 whilst flying with 61 Sqn and spent the remainder of the war in 'the slammer'.

He retired from the RAF in 1978 with a CVO, CBE and two AFCs.
