    Default F/S G. WHITFIELD DFM 206 Sqn

Could anyone tell me the first name and/or service number of F/S WHITFIELD 206 Sqn. One source on the internet gives his firstname as John but I'm not sure if this is correct. I believe his DFM was gazetted 07 Jul 42 but I can't find the entry in the London Gazette archive.

    Best Regards

    Hi Joss,

Many thanks for the info. Does Maton give a citation?

    Cheers

    Hello

No, it's just a listing, one line per award, service number, ID, award, date of LG issue and page number, unit. The book is called "Honour the Air Forces". You are confusing with the Tavender book, whose title is, from memory "The D.F.M. and how it was won". But I stand to be corrected. I'd like to have both the Tavender book about the DFM and the Carters' book about the DFC.

Thanks again Joss, you are correct, I'm mixing books up.

    Hi,

Tavender's DFM does have a citation, contact me off board and I will email it to you.
