    Default WO2 Douglas J. Setter, R.C.A.F. (gunner)

Among your Canadian members, can somebody know the location where the body of WO2 Douglas J. Setter, R.C.A.F. (R/159475) was found ? His Halifax III (ZA-Q/HX347) from 10 Squadron was shot down on 2/5/1944 near Brussels.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Regis
Chorley Bomber Command Losses Vol 5 records this a/c as attacking Mechelen and coming down at Eppegem(1/2 way between Mechelen and Brussels) where I presume his body was found unless he bailed out before the a/c hit the ground. No Bail-out is mentioned by Chorley but he does say that 1 crew member, Sgt J T H Burton, survived and evaded capture.4 others of the crew have no known grave
    Regards

    Hi Dick,

Thanks for the information. Concerning Sgt James T. H. Burton (wireless operator) from Fife, this mission was his 17th, he bailed out and evaded capture. He was hidden by helpers in Brussels and Waterloo.
I would like to obtain the exact location of the crash. Can somebody help me with that ?

    Rgds
