Default Andrew "Square" McKee DSO DFC AFC

    Hi,

Away from my books at the moment.

Can anyone please tell me when McKee became the station commander of RAF Downham Market.

    TIA

    Steve, Hi,
Nobody seems to want to play with you!
Using a lot of circumstantial evidence from a wide variety of sources it would seem possible that McKee became CO Downham Market between late Jul and early Sep 1942 (the airfield was opened between those two dates). It was a satellite of Marham. It looks as if McKee and Kyle swapped Stations at one stage, so if there’s nothing in the DM ORB then it might be in the Marham ORB. McKee got his T/Brass Hat on 1 Sep 42 – might be connected (but, of course, he may have been A/Gp Capt before then?)? Best I can do!

    Hi Peter,

A belated thank you. The Downham Market Station Records book does not start to October 1942, the station opened late June, early July. I think it was McKee, will find out in time !!

    Thanks again Steve
