    Default F/O G Goodale, 217 Squadron Beauforts, Malta, June-August 1942

Assistance please. My father F/O Gerald "Gerry" Goodale piloted one of the 217 Beauforts which were en route to Ceylon in June 1942 but were detained in Malta for anti-shipping operations. He arrived in Malta on 10 June and flew against the Italian fleet on 15 June. (Aircraft DD954, crew members F/O Reilley (Canadian), Sgt Curnow, Sgt Lawcock.) His log is then silent until he was flown to Bilbeis East on 13 August and then began flying again in September with 267 Squadron in Lodestars, Hudsons and DC3s. Later he flew with 233, 107 OTU, 1333 TSCU, 48, 215, and finally ACSEA as personal pilot to Keith Park.

I would like to know what happened to account for his inactivity on Malta between 15 June and 13 August. Any suggestions for research on this would be gratefully accepted.
