    Default Loss 78 Squadron Halifax LV868, 7/8 June 1944?

    Dear all,

Further to my previous post about a 15 Squadron Lancaster loss on 7/8 June 1944, I am also looking for any info about the loss of 78 Squadron Halifax LV868 on 7/8 June 1944, especially about the precise location and time when the aircraft was badly shot up by a night fighter.

    Cheers and thanks, Theo

I have copies of documents originally written by the WOP on this aircraft and copies of letters between the Pilot and the family of the RG. I will check for further info but I believe the attack occurred "over the target" (tho' no exact position given) The RG was severely injured in the face and died after being admitted to Hospital following the diversion to West Malling on return to the UK

Will get back to you ASAP - once I found the documents

    Kind Regards

    Tony

    Hello Tony,

Cheers and thanks a lot for that -looking forward to receiving the info from the Original documents that you quote, hopefully this will lead to the identification of a (probable) Nachtjagd claim for LV868.

    Best wishes, Theo
