    Default W/C G. L. Sinclair – a strange Czech order

    Hi,
    W/C Gordon Leonard Sinclair
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obit...-Sinclair.html

In recent years, Sinclair was awarded the Order of King George of Podograd by the Czech government in recognition of his wartime service with the Czech fighter squadrons.

‚Order of King George of Podograd‘ (repeated many times)

    W/C G D M Blackwood…
    http://www.culture24.org.uk/history-...r-two/art77234

He was decorated with the Czech War Cross and Czech Military Medal and was presented with the Czech Medal of George of Podebrady in 1993.

‚Czech Medal of George of Podebrady‘.

Poděbrady is really a nice spa town near Prague and George of Podebrady (or Podiebrad) was the King of Bohemia.

Order or medal? Does anybody know the correct name?

    Regards
    Mojmir

    Ahoj Mojmire,

well it seems to me that it was some kind of non-official decoration, at least it was not a state decoration.

Check the IWM collections where is descriprion of this medal from W/C G D M Blackwood estate:

circular bronze medallion depicting George of Podebrady with a crown to the side and the inscription GEORGIUS REX BOHEMIAE, the obverse shows a map with the circular inscription PAX INTER NATIONES (x3) and NADACE JIRIHO Z PODEBRAD PRAHA in box of issue

    Hi Pavel,
Thank you very much. Now I know what it is about...
Vaclav Havel received the same one in 1995. IWM has rather a big diameter of it - 60 cm!
