Default Sgts BERCHAMPS and Pechay - Malta 1942

Sgts BERCHAMPS and PECHAY Malta 1942

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hi guys

These two pilots - Berchamps and Pechay (Petchay?) - flew with 249 Squadron in 1942, but I have been unable to find any details. First names? Nationality?

    Can anyone help?

    Cheers
    Brian

    Hello Brian,

Do you have a time period within 1942 for these two Sgt ( pilots ?).

    18th September 1941 - F/Sgt. Horace A. Pechey - 10105 - DOAS, reg Sleaford, Linc's.

    I did see in the 1942 AFL's that there was Pechey, R.V.P. S/O - 1623 - WAAF.
    and also Beauchamp, F.L - S/O - 891 - WAAF.
    Then there were also -
    Beauchamp, Maurice S. - LAC - DOAS.
    Beauchamp, R.F. P/O - 67791 - Reg Sandford on Thames.

    Perhaps not those you seek

    Thanks for searching, Alex

However, none of those fit the bill.

I believe the elusive names were probably misspelt in the ORB.

    'Berchamps' early 1942

    'Pechay/Petchay' late 1942

    Cheers

    Hello Brian,
Any chance that they may have been forign airmen, perhaps French, what about aliases ?
    As for BERCHAMPS -
Ask Chris Shores - "Malta the Spitfire Year 1942" page's 127 and 689.
    "Wednesday 18th March.
Other claims during these actions were submitted by Flg/Off Lee and Sgt. Berchamps of 249 squadron, who reported damaging a Ju88 and a Bf109 respectively".
