Hello Kenny,
One possibility for your Wellington "253", would be Wellington III BK253 - 16 OTU - Struck Off Charge 29.1.45.
See: A-B's RAF Aircraft BA100 to BZ999/60.
At various times, No.16 OTU used the code letters - "GA". "JS" and "XG".

Hello,
i am continuing on my research of my uncle WOII James C HORNE RCAF. I'm looking into his time with 16 OTU Barford St. John and in particular his nickel flight to Tours, 26 September 1943.
My uncle's log book lists 25 flights on Wellingtons during his posting there, along with a number for each aircraft. I am wondering if anyone can identify Wellington "253" from that time period. Would that be a complete serial number? What were the squadron code letters for 16 OTU?
thanks in advance,

Thanks Col,
I'll have to grab a copy of that book. My library is growing nicely. Hope my wife doesn't get too angry :-)
Kenny
